Silicon is a dement found in silica, to make silicone, silicon is extracted from silica and passed through hydrocarbons to create a new polymer with an inorganic silicon-oxygen backbone and carbon-based side group. It’s like the silicon might come from a relatively same kind and abundant resources like sand, hydrocarbons in silicone come from fossil fuel kind of sources like petroleum and natural gas, so silicone is known as a type of hybrid product or material.
