Mechanism of Toilet Valve Flapper:
You must have noticed the leakage in the water tank of a toilet. It leads to reduce the water level in the tank. The functioning of the tank depends on the flapper. Steps to repair Toilet Valve Flapper:

There is a toilet supply valve located under the tank. Turn off that valve. It can be done very easily. Before moving further, one needs to drain out the water remained in the tank. Make sure that the tank is completely drained.

Step 1
Once the tank is empty, one can start to move ahead. Take a look
On the flapper and a flush handle. There must be a chain connecting both the parts. First, disconnect that chain. Now remove the flapper. It can be done by pulling it rubber ears off the post or else one can remove by sliding the ring which is attached up, and of the tube.
Step 2
Now, one can apply the silicone grease but before doing that, one should clean the flapper to remove the dirt and blackening. It happens because we do not drain out water from the tank every day. It should be cleaned over a period. The blackening is done because of the flow of hard water. It causes mould and scales. It gets cleared with the help of disinfectant or a dish detergent. Now spread the silicone grease around the outside edge of the flapper on its inner part. Use a dry tool to spread the grease. One can use a small cloth or a rag also.
Step 3
Once the part of flapper gets greased, one can apply it on the edge of the siphon hole in the tank also. It will give a protecting cover to the tank so that to avoid leakage in the future. Let it get dry.
Step 4
Now the leakage area is covered perfectly. Connect the flapper back and attach it with the overflow tube. Now one can test the tank to check that the covering is done properly or not. Let the tank filled up by turning the flapper. Adjust the length of the chain if the flapper is not fixed properly.
